The founders

It began with a tiffin box

Tushar and Tanisha Thakkar have been cooking Gujarati food professionally since 2009. Raecha’s is what that turned into.

  1. Before 2009

A tiffin box at the radio station

Tushar Thakkar was a radio jockey who carried homemade Gujarati food to work. His colleagues kept saying the same thing: your dhoklas are the best, you should be selling this.

  2. 2009

    A ten-by-ten rented store

He lost the job. He and Tanisha opened a ten-by-ten rented store in Surat under the name Jai Jalaram Food & Farsan.

First sale: Kathiyawadi khatta dhokla. First day: 600 rupees.

  3. The years after

    Corporate tiffin

The store grew into corporate tiffin services — larger volumes, tighter timelines, and the same taste expected every single day.

  4. Then

    Weddings and celebrations

From tiffin to weddings, private gatherings and large events, cooking Gujarati food at a scale the ten-by-ten store could not have imagined.

  5. 2026

    Raecha’s Gourmet Gujarati

The same recipes, packed so they travel. A question the founders kept asking: what if someone thousands of miles from Gujarat could open a pouch and taste what they grew up with?

How we work

What “gourmet” means here

Traditional Gujarati food in a modern, pre-plated style, with versatile, multipurpose recipes. That is the whole of it.

There is no separate chef behind the recipes. The founders are the chefs, and they learned the way most cooks actually learn — at home first, then through seventeen years of doing it for other people.

Recipes can teach you how to cook. Struggles teach you how to become a chef.

What does not change

Consistency is the product

  • The same every time

The same ingredients, the same measurements, the same recipe. What changes between two pouches is nothing.

  • Chosen suppliers

Ingredients come from selected vendors across India rather than from whoever is cheapest that week.

  • Cooked, then specified

A recipe is developed on a working counter first. Only then is it locked to a specification so a factory can repeat it.

How it works

Pouch to plate in three steps

  • A hand holding a Raecha's Khatta Meetha Bataka nu Ghattu Shaak Premix pouch in a kitchen, with potatoes on the counter. 01

    Open the pouch

One sachet, one dish. No weighing, no separate masala box.

  • A hand reading the method printed on the back of the pouch while potato cubes cook in a pan behind it. 02

    Cook as printed

The method is on the back of every pack — a pan or a cooker.

  • A bowl of khatta meetha bataka nu shaak served with rotli and rice. 03

    Serve it hot

Rotli, bhakhri, rice or on its own. The serving note is on pack.

  • 100% Vegetarian
  • Ready in 5 minutes
  • No artificial preservatives
  • Authentic Gujarati recipe

The road ahead

Where this is going

Outlets, retail chains and quick-meal kitchens cooking with Raecha’s packs — the same taste, reached a different way. And the range itself keeps growing beyond Gujarat.

The ranges below are in development. No launch dates have been set yet.

  • North Indian Including idli khiru and vada mix, built the same way as the Gujarati range.
  • South Indian Sambhar mix and the staples that go alongside it.
  • Soups A dedicated soup range, extending what Surti khawsa already does.
